David Elan is a professional guitarist and vocalist who performs and composes in a wide variety of styles. David holds a masters degree in classical guitar performance from Portland State University where he graduated with the highest honors.
David studied classical guitar under David Rogers, Bryan Johanson and Jesse McCann, as well as jazz guitar under Jeff Putterman. He has performed in master-classes with some of the world’s finest guitar players, including the Grammy award-winning classical guitarist David Russell, the Grammy award-winning composer Andrew York, and Ralph Towner, celebrated composer and founding member of the musical group Oregon.
David performs in a variety of venues around the Pacific Northwest and beyond, from wineries and weddings to elder communities and concert halls. His current line-up of instruments includes voice, electric, nylon, and synthesizer guitars, fretless ukulele bass, melodica, kalimba, and beat-box, and he uses the boss RC-600 loop station to layer it all together. His original music draws from such diverse influences as Rock, Jazz, Blues, R&B, Classical, Hip-Hop, and Folk. His repertoire of popular music spans centuries, from Bach to The Beatles to Bossa Nova and beyond.
